Pride Foundation Rainbow Award (2016)
2016 – Tacoma Pride Awards
Client: Tacoma Pride Festival
Materials: Acrylic, wood, and paint
Tools: Epilog Laser Cutter and Table Saw
Description:
This award was 2016’s Pride Foundation of Tacoma’s Rainbow Awards for community members who had contributed greatly to their cause. FabLab was asked to make an award that featured a rainbow theme, the Tacoma skyline and three different logos.
Challenges:
Since Tacoma does not have a well-known skyline, it was difficult to create one with all the famous buildings in one piece. I had to trace over pictures of Tacoma buildings and fabricate a skyline that included the most unique buildings.
Impact:
This award stretched my design capabilities and tested my craftsmanship. It also helped establish FabLab as an ally to the LGBTQ community in Tacoma, while celebrating those who do so much within the community.
